Over 2,200 foreign invested projects in HCM City |

Ho Chi Minh City granted licenses to 61 foreign invested projects with a combine investment of 72.8 million USD and a registered capital of 59.3 million USD in the first quarter of 2007.
In addition, 27 foreign invested projects applied for extending investment by 30.3 million USD and registered capital by 15.9 million USD, bringing the total of an additional investment in the first quarter to 103.1 million USD. The real estate development and consultation service sector draws 28 projects with a combined investment of 44.5 million USD. The industrial sector draws 21 projects capitalised at 22 million USD, and construction lures seven projects with 5.4 million USD. The Republic of Korea is the largest investor, pouring 19.8 million USD in 20 projects in the review period. Also in the first quarter, HCM City granted licenses for operation to almost 3,000 non-State enterprises, capitalised at over 6.44 trillion VND, representing respective increases of 16.8 percent and over two-folds year on year. So far, 2,224 foreign invested projects, capitalised at almost 14.66 billion USD, are operating in the largest national economic hub, representing an increase of 248 projects and almost 1.65 billion USD over the corresponding period last year.
