Based of the result of the implementation of the tourism program in Khanh Hoa Province for 5 years 2001-2005, the steering board of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Tourism Program has had a plan to run the tourism development program in 2006.

Although 2006 is not a tourism year of Khanh Hoa Province, many important events to be taken place in Khanh Hoa will create good chances for tourism broadcast such as the APEC Conference and the final round of Tien Phong Newspaper’s Miss Contest to be held at Vinpearl Resort…Therefore, the criterion set by Khanh Hoa this year is to receive 1 million arrivals with a tourism turnover of over 700 billion VND. According to Huynh Quang Chau, Vice Director of the Service of Trade and Tourism, this year will highlight many tourist and cultural activities in the two periods, from June to August with summer tourist and cultural activities to replace the annual program “August – Nha Trang – A destination” and in December with lots of fascinating festivities to welcome Christmas and New Year 2007 when many foreigners will come to Nha Trang City. The change of the tourism month was approved by members of the steering board. Although the tourism month in August has become a trademark of Khanh Hoa tourism, it has shown some disadvantages due to unfavorable weather. Therefore, according to suggestions of tourism enterprises, the tourism season of Khanh Hoa Province will begin in summer and cultural and tourist actives will start in June. On this occasion, the Sea Festival will be introduced to tourists. The Service of culture and Information will give guidelines to units of arts in cooperation with hotels, sight seeing places to make suitable traditional shows to serve visitors. In 2006, Nha Trang Port is expected to welcome 22 tourist ships.
The Service of Trade and Tourism will cooperate with the Tourism Research Institute to adjust the general tourism development project in Khanh Hoa Province to the year 2010 and to 2020. The adjustment will finish in 2006. In addition, relevant agencies have to carry out the investment projects in Bai Dai Resort, Cam Ranh District, Van Phong Zone and sight seeing places according to approved project. In the investment in tourism infrastructures and promotion of business capacity this year, the Service of Trade and Tourism will implement the investment project of Yangbay – Hocho funded by the national tourism program. Moreover, Khanh Hoa will make great effort to increase the tourist transport capacity by 10% because the number of means of tourist transport have not satisfied the present demand, especially when international tourist ships come. Many ships will be rebuilt to meet the required tourist service standard. Relevant departments and agencies have to create favorable conditions for enterprises to carry out investment projects on schedule.
To create labor force, the Service for Education and Training continues to run the program “Education of Tourism” to train volunteers serving for the APEC conference, Sea Festival… The Service for Trade and Tourism implemented a scheme to found the Tourism Professional School in Nha Trang City and hold basic tourism professional classes for tourism enterprises.
