The capital of Viet Nam welcomed 132,332 foreign visitors in January, marking an increase of 38.2 percent year on year.

The largest share came to the Republic of Korea, accounting for 9.18 percent of foreign arrivals, followed by China with a make-up of 8.29 percent.
Tourists from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries sharply increased. Malaysian arrivals, for example, increased by 247 percent, thus positioning Malaysia on the top ten list. Singaporeans also rose by 66.1 percent.
The Ha Noi Tourist Service forecast more increases in 2007. The service said it aimed to further target more potential markets in West and North Europe, Northeast Asia, North America and Australia.
Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia which are running budget air flights to Ha Noi will also be subject to the industry's promotion campaigns, said the municipal tourist service.
The service added that it always considered populous China a key market and will take all measures to tap its great potential.
