Southernmost province calls for investment in eco-tourism PDF Print E-mail

ImageCa Mau province, on the southern tip of Viet Nam, has released a list of six projects on eco-tourism, with big offers for local and foreign investors, to tap its eco-diversity.

Top of the list is the project of "Cultural Park" covering 18 hectares of land, including a three-ha bird sanctuary, which is home to thousands of kinds of birds. The project is likely to expand to another 14 ha, according to its operations.
Another project is called "Ca Mau Tip Eco-Tourism," which will cover 45 ha of wetland forests and is likely to expand to 60 ha if the project runs well. The site is 120 km away from the provincial township and has already been known to tourists nationwide and from other countries.
The largest project is the 8,000 ha of U Minh Ha National Park. The project aims to develop eco-tourism through efforts to conserve the ecological systems of wildlife typical to cajeput forests and forests reserved for special uses. These sorts of forests are home to rare birds, animals and honey-bees.
The remaining three eco-tourist projects are the Ca Mau Natural Reserve, the Thi Tuong marshes and Hon Khoai Island, which are calling for investment in various forms such as leasing, joint-ventures and partnerships.
Along with offering investors tax reduction, exemption and many other preferential policies, Ca Mau province has been committed to upgrades in the transportation system, such as the extention of Highway A1 to the Ca Mau Tip, the expansion of the Ca Mau Airport using State budgets, and finalising the masterplan for tourism development for the 2006-2010 period.
All these efforts will guaranttee for stable policies to encourage businesses and economic consortiums to invest in long-term projects in the potential-filled province, said the local administration.
In recent years, the Ca Mau tourist industry has attracted billions of VND to build or upgrade infrastructural facilities and has virtually finished several tourist sites such as the Da Bac Island tourist site. The Ca Mau Cultural and Tourist Park has become a major destination for local holiday makers and foreign tourists
