Vietnam is willing to create favourable conditions for Chinese people along the border to travel deeper into Vietnamese territory and stay in Vietnam longer as tourists, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Mr Nhan, who received the Chairman of the Chinese National Tourism Administration, Shao Qiwei, on August 9, said that Vietnam and China share many geographic and topographic similarities that will assist their cooperation in tourism.

The Deputy PM congratulated Mr Shao on the recent achievements of the Chinese tourist sector and highlighted the significance of his visit to Vietnam.

Shao Qiwei briefed Mr Nhan on his previous meeting with the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at which the two sides reached an agreement on tourism cooperation in the 2010-2013 period.

The Chinese official said tourism has contributed considerably to China’s annual growth and senior Chinese leaders have decided to turn tourism into a cutting-edge industry.
