After a long time of decrease, international tourists to Hanoi from the beginning of this year to now have increased by 12 percent with 551,600 arrivals in comparison with the same period of last year.

The information is recently released by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Key markets which have a large number of visitors to Hanoi are Germany with 104,900 arrivals, an increase of 4 times compared the same period of last year; China, an increase of 32%; France, an increase of 32%, Japan, an increase of 20%, Australia, an increase of 7%, America, an increase of 1% and England an increase of 20%.

Almost these markets have high payment and long-time residence in Hanoi.

The amount of international visitors to Vietnam in general and to Hanoi in particular has increased remarkable because Vietnam has organized various tourism events and festivals attracting interests of visitors. Especially, the two great events of the 1,000^th anniversary of Thang Long –Hanoi and the national tourism year 2010 held in Hanoi are chances to promote image of Hanoi to international friends and improve the position of the capital’s tourism sector.
