Vietnam’s first coconut palm festival will take place in the southern province of Ben Tre on Jan. 16 next year, the organising board said on Oct. 2. 
 

The event, which will be held in Chau Thanh District and Ben Tre Town, aims at highlighting the socio-economic achievements of Ben Tre Province, which is known as “the land of coconut palms”, and its local specialities.
 

During the festival, there will be coconut-themed competitions, workshops, fairs and exhibitions.

The festival coincides with a number of other significant events in the province, including the inauguration of the Rach Mieu bridge and the 49th anniversary of the Ben Tre general uprising.
