PM nods on projects to boost Phu Yen’s economy PDF Print E-mail

ImagePrime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung gave the nod to central coastal Phu Yen province to carry out three tourism and transport projects during his working session with provincial leaders on July 21.
Those projects cover the development of the Ganh Da Dia tourist complex, the upgrade of Tuy Hoa airport, and construction of an expressway linking Tuy Hoa airport to the Ganh Da Dia tourist complex. 

PM Dung urged the province to continue exploring geographical advantages to draw more investment into tourism, petrochemicals and oil, and high technology, to boost its economy.

In doing so, the Government leader asked provincial leaders to remove procedural hindrances to businesses while ensuring them of sufficient supply of capital. He also asked the province to deploy programs to support fishermen in line with the Government’s instructions.

Phu Yen reported that it posted a GDP growth rate of 9.5 percent and an industrial production value rise of 18.3 percent in the first six months of the year. It generated jobs for close to 13,000 people and reduced poor households to 12.6 percent.

In the reviewed period, the province licenced six investment projects capitalising at 4.4 billion USD, bringing the total investment projects in the locality to 115 with a combined capital of 7.8 billion USD.

Phu Yen will house several big projects totalling nearly 15 billion USD, including the Vung Ro oil refinery and the Hoa Tam petrochemical industrial zone.

The provincial authorities said they will focus on taming inflation, spurring economic development, reforming administrative apparatus and curbing traffic accidents in the second half of the year.

In Phu Yen, which is part of his tour of central provinces, PM Dung inspected the deployment of the 1.7 billion USD Vung Ro oil refinery project, the 11 billion USD project on Hoa Tam petrochemical industrial zone and Naphtha Cracking petrochemical complex, the 4.3 billion USD Phu Yen high-end tourist complex project, and the construction of Hung Vuong bridge.
