A 12 million EUR project on human resource development for the tourism sector has been carried out by the EU and the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism.

The European Union provides about 10.8 million EUR for the project and the remainder comes from Viet Nam .

The project aims to help Viet Nam build a national professional skill recognition system, 10 training and appraisal centres, and 18 rooms for the practice of professional skills.

More than 1,500 people have got training under the project. Of them 995 have received certificates, which enable them to give standardised training to others.

Viet Nam and the EU agreed to implement the project until 2010.
