The Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism has invested 3.8 million USD in building infrastructure and training personnel with the aim of boosting tourism in the Mekong delta region.

A large part of the sum is spent on the construction of bridges, harbours and a waste water treatment system in An Giang province. The investment is made within the framework of the programme to develop tourism along Mekong river in coordination with ASEAN countries.

The projects are expected to be completed in 2007.
