 Last year, more than 23,000 Russian tourists travelled to Vietnam, a year-on-year increase of 94%, according to the National Administration of Tourism. This is one of the two markets with the most rapidly increased number of tourists. Many experts predict that 2006 will be the year of the Russian market.

The population of China is over 1.3 billion, of which 41.8% are urban and 58.2% are rural. Since 1978, China underwent a rapid economic growth due to their new policy of an open market economy. In 2005, the GDP of the country was 1.79 trillion USD.

 Intra-regional tourism within Asia is on the rise and constitutes a good portion of the total visitors to the region. The UNWTO has prepared a series of market studies of the Asia-Pacific countries which are considered significant as outbound markets for the region.
