Domestic travel up despite downturn |

Travel industry executives attribute a fall in the number of foreign tourists in large part to the global economic crisis rather than the swine flu scare.
They also add that domestic travel has picked up some of the slack, riding on a nationwide tourism promotion campaign that has offered significant service discounts. |

Nation jumps in tourism, travel ranking |

Viet Nam has jumped seven places to 89th among133 countries on the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) for the year.
The report said Viet Nam’s rating reached 3.7 points. Out of the 27 nations in the Asia, Pacific region listed in the forum’s rankings, Viet Nam was 17th. Australia took the lead in the region. |

The Mövenpick Hotel Saigon is running a meeting promotion at a low rate of just US$1 per participant, valid to the end of this September. The cost includes venue, lunch and coffee breaks. However, guests are supposed to book minimum of 10 rooms at any corporate or internet rate. |
